Yes! Macarons are like cars, there are budget cars and there are premium cars. As opposed to big-box or grocery store macarons, ours are made with world-class & hand-picked ingredients: ultra-fine Belgian chocolate, 100% pure Sicilian pistachio paste, authentic Italian Nutella, real vanilla beans, and more! Some of our immediate fans are those who have tried grocery store or big-box store macarons and then tried ours. Their eyes light up and they finally understand why authentic macarons are so popular, loved, and exhilarating.
Macarons shouldn’t have air bubbles in their shells or excessive coloring. They shouldn’t be either too big or too small and the almond flour for the shells should be finely grounded. Macarons shouldn’t be too sweet or have too little filling, and most importantly, all ingredients should be high-quality and fresh.
Macarons have a rich history dating back to the 8th century A.D. when they were first produced in Venetian monasteries. This sweet delicacy gained popularity during the Renaissance when French queen Catherine de Medici brought Italian pastry chefs with her to France in 1533. However, it wasn’t until the French Revolution that French macarons really began to make a name for themselves. In 1792, two Carmelite nuns who were seeking asylum in Nancy baked and sold macarons to pay for their housing. These nuns became known as the “Macaron Sisters”. During these early days, macarons were enjoyed without any special flavors or fillings.
